Library Loot: July 28th - August 3

Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted alternatively by Marg and Claire that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky (at Marg's this week) any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries!
Normally when I go to the library I don't do a lot of browsing. I normally reserve the books I want then just go pick them up. However, this week I took some time strolling the stacks and immediately snatched up these great YA reads off the shelf.
Books:

I had reserved the following and they came in at the same time.
DVDs:
CD's:
Bedtime Stories - Madonna

Just curious, how many of you reserve books beforehand and then pick them up versus browsing the shelves? Or a combination of both?

  1. I have heard of none of those YA books, but I love YA and must now check them out:):)

  2. I reserve and then pick up all the time. I do still wander around now and then. But my 4yo tends to lose her mind when we go to the library so it's a whole lot easier for me to able pick up reserves than to try to wander while she's with me.

It is nice to see her so excited by books at such an early age though.

  3. I put books on hold all of the time! With 3 kids it is hard for me to find the time to browse by myself but sometimes (very rarely) it does happen. Enjoy your loot!

  4. Oooooo great loot! I heart the library, i wish i had more time to go, just the smell of walking in with all those books. HEAVEN! Brand new books have no awesome smell =(

I used to reserve mine too, my library is only small so everything i wanted would always be out, i'd have the longest reserve list of anyone lol!

  5. I usually just pick up my holds, since my closest library isn't the biggest branch. If I want to browse, I go to the main library (which is really only an extra five or ten minute drive), but I only do that if I don't have too many books out already!

  6. Jenny, are you mostly into paranormal YAs? I think all of these are contemps. YA list is one of my most fav genres! :)

KyleeJ, Thanks for stopping by. I guess it would be very advantageous to reserve and pick up with a 4 year old on the loose. That IS amazing that she's psyched about books at such a young age! YAY! I thank my Mom for making me a reader at a young age. I went on to major in English AND became a Librarian! ;)

Samantha, I bet being able to reserve makes it a lot easier on you with 3 kids! I have no kids and it's very useful to just stop by and pick up my holds! Thanks for stopping by!

Sparklebearsy, Haha sometimes the smells are awesome, sometimes....they're a bit suspect! ;) Thanks for stopping by. I read all your posts via Reader. But usually don't comment b/c I'm at work and I worry about the "Adult content warning" then I forget to come back and comment once I'm home! I'll try to do better b/c I do enjoy your blog! :)

Eva, I do the same thing. Although my branch usually has a really great YA selection. Our main library is in the downtown area an parking is a bitch and it's not in the best area of town. LOVE being able to reserves stuff!

  8. I usually go to pick up holds but can't resist the browsing as well and doubles the loot I stagger home with.

    Enjoy your reading
